Stone is nature’s most patient storyteller, shaped over millions of years through layers, veins, textures, and traces of time. POETRA represents a holistic approach to natural stoneone that understands its character, respects its origins, and translates its unique qualities into the language of contemporary architecture. From our own quarries to our modern production facilities, each stone is carefully selected for its colour, texture, and individuality, then shaped through advanced technology, expertise, and precise craftsmanship. For us, technology is not a means of overpowering nature, but a tool for revealing its character with greater clarity and precision. We therefore see production not simply as the preparation of a material, but as an integral part of the architectural process, ensuring quality, consistency, and harmony from design through to application. Because when interpreted with sensitivity and care, stone becomes more than a building material; it becomes a lasting architectural expression that gives identity to a space and endures through time.
OUR STORY
Rooted in Anatolia. Shaped by Stone.
POETRA’s story begins in Anatolia a land where natural stone has shaped architecture, culture and human expression for thousands of years.
Surrounded by one of the world’s richest traditions of marble and natural stone, our understanding of the material was built long before POETRA became a brand. It grew through years of working closely with stone: discovering its sources, selecting the right blocks, understanding its veins and tonal variations, refining its surfaces, and learning how every material carries a character of its own.
This experience created more than technical expertise. It formed a deep understanding of stone — from the quarry to the finished architectural surface. A knowledge rooted in the material itself, in its origin, its behaviour and its possibilities. POETRA was born when this Anatolian stone heritage met a contemporary design vision.
Today, we carry that accumulated knowledge forward with a new perspective — transforming the timeless character of natural stone into refined surfaces for contemporary architecture.

01 - Learning the Stone
In 2007, Uğur Serdar Kargın and Osman Aydın Kargın began their journey in the natural stone industry. Over time, that experience became the foundation of the material knowledge we have today.
For years, we selected, cut, and processed stone. By returning to the same material again and again, we learned to understand the direction of its veins, the behavior of its tones, the value of its natural markings, and the different potential held within each block.
Over time, we learned not only how to process stone, but how to read it.
That remains one of the most important capabilities at the core of POETRA today.
Not simply processing stone, but knowing how to read it.
02 - The Source
Knowing Where the Stone Comes From
We learned that truly understanding a material requires more than seeing its finished form.
Over time, we took our relationship with stone all the way back to its source.
Through our own travertine quarry, we are able to understand each block before it even enters production its vein structure, tonal continuity, and natural character.
This gave us more than a reliable source of supply.
It gave us the ability to know the stone from the very beginning.
Our relationship with the material moved beyond selection.
It became a sense of belonging.
03 - Craft
When Knowledge Becomes Instinct
Over the years, our technical knowledge developed into something deeper.
When we look at a block today, we no longer see only its dimensions or surface.
We understand how it should be cut, which natural markings should be preserved, which finish will best reveal its character, and where the material will perform at its best.
We did not gain this understanding through technical calculations alone.
We observed the stone.
We touched it.
We worked with it.
We saw the results.
And every new block taught us something more.
For us, this is where true craftsmanship begins:
Understanding the material before shaping it.
04 - Production
Preserving the Character of Stone
Understanding stone has always been only part of the process. Knowing how to work with it correctly is just as important.
From cutting and surface finishing to calibration and custom fabrication, every stage we have developed follows the same principle:
Not to change the stone, but to reveal its character more clearly.
That is also how we approach technology.
We do not see it as an end in itself.
We use it to preserve the natural structure of the material, respect the direction of its veins, and carry each piece through production without losing its individual character.
Our production capabilities have grown over the years. But the material has always remained at the center.
That principle still defines our approach today: technology is not there to alter the nature of stone, but to help us express it more precisely.
05 - Architecture
Bringing Stone into the Right Context
Over time, we realized that producing the right stone was not enough.
The real challenge was bringing the right stone into the right space.
That is why we no longer consider color, veining, texture, and finish in isolation.
We consider the light.
We consider the scale.
We consider the character of the space and the language of the architecture.
We do not see stone as a material added at the end of a project, but as an architectural element that should be considered from the very beginning of the design process.
Because for us, it is not simply about creating a beautiful surface.
It is about bringing the right stone into the right context, in the right relationship.
This approach continues to define how POETRA engages with architecture today.
06 -The Next Generation / POETRA
A New Perspective on the Same Stone
Is the next generation, we did not inherit a finished brand.
We inherited years of knowledge about stone.
We brought together perspectives shaped by industrial engineering, interior architecture, and civil engineering with the expertise passed down through our family.
Then we asked the same stone a different question:
What else could this stone become?
Did it have to remain simply a surface?
Could it become a table?
A basin?
A console?
A sculptural form?
A design object at the heart of a space?
We did not discover a new stone.
We did not discover a new geography.
We simply looked at the same stone differently.
That is where POETRA was born.
We brought together the material knowledge built by one generation with the design perspective of the next.
And that remains at the heart of what we do today: Taking the stone from where we know it best, and carrying it toward what it can become next.
